I lost one of my key fobs for my 2022 Ford Bronco Badlands and I was wondering what would be the process to get a replacement key fob?

See your dealer and bring a wheelbarrow full of money. You will have to buy a replacement and have service dept program it.

I was told by the finance guy at my dealer not to buy the fob from the dealer, very very expensive. He said to buy a fob from a third party and have it activated at the dealer. You can even use one of those mobile key guys. They can order a key and activate it for you.

Many of the extended warranties include key replacement (one key/year), if you purchased any sort of policy check the details. Then it’s “free” including the activation…

The first two key fobs on any Ford vehicle have to be activated by someone with access to FDRS (Ford Diagnostic and Repair System). Any Ford dealer will have that system, as well as a handful of independent repair shops and locksmiths.

After the first two key fobs, you can program a third and a forth key yourself.

The key fob itself costs around $35 - $45. The cost of the key within the key fob varies. You can order the key from a dealership, or you can order a blank and have a locksmith cut it. The keys themselves are side-cut keys so it isn't something you'll be able to duplicate at a most hardware stores.

Total costs will probably land somewhere between $200 - $350. Depends largely on the cost of labor to reprogram the vehicle, so if you can combine it with other maintenance-type work (such as an oil change) you may be able to absorb some of that labor cost.

All of this is great information. But @theraja where did you loose your fob?
I would be concerned someone would find it and take my Bronco. Unless I lost it in the house or something.

When you buy the Ford extended warranty plan, you have the option to add different riders. One of these is a key fob rider. I included it when I purchased my plan.

Is there a reference on how to program 3rd key yourself?

It's in the manual in the "Keys and Remote Control" section if I recall correctly. If you can't find it there, check the "MyKey" section.

I bought the extended warranty so I get one free every year if needed, but go on Amazon and order one have have a key guy reprogram it for you. I think you can have up to 4 remotes on the Bronco. Looks like a blank is $42.99 then just pay to have it programmed.

I love the “it’s in the manual” answer. Use it daily in my real life… :) right on page 72. …
