2022 4-Door Outer Banks with Sasquatch/Towing Package
7,500 miles
Last week I got an alert at start up. Service Engine Soon. Powertrain Malfunction / Reduced Power
I can not switch GOAT Mode, stuck in 2WD. Slowing down to turning into driveway or parking space is also very strange and I feel has something to do with reduced power. Anyone else experience this and know what the issue is?
To make matters worse, I have Premium Care warranty but they won't approve rental until diagnosis has been made. My dealer says that could take 5 days.

Yeah so the PCM probably detected an issue and stuck your Bronco into limp mode to protect itself. Huge bummer.
If you have the Ford warranty, keep in mind that it can be serviced at any Ford dealer, doesn't have to be your dealer.

I keep getting the same error when pulling a light trailer. Have had it in shop 3 times and still no better. It has done it mostly when on cruise control but has given error a couple of times not on cruise. Gas mileage goes from 23.5 to 13.5. Also, oil consumption is a quart in 500 miles; 6 quarts on 3700 mile trip.

Gas mileage falling that much isn’t unheard of.
Oil consumption is mega bad juju though. I’d at least get your cylinder compression checked. Sounds like your piston rings or valves aren’t holding under load. Bad news for any engine, very bad for an engine with a turbo.

It goes in shop again; hopefully will see what is going on. 1/2 qt in 350 miles with no trailer.

Dropped the Bronco off yesterday morning. Still waiting to hear something. The person checking me in was familiar with the Powertrain Malfunction Warning. He seemed puzzled over the power issue while moving at a slow speed or turning into spaces.
The wheels feel like 4WD is engaged. You can feel and hear the tires "gripping" as I turn. If I give it more gas it seems to get better.

Once I speed up, 10+ mph, it drives fine. My gas mileage has increased which is very strange.

Finally got my Bronco back - 7 days after I dropped it off. No diagnosis until the morning of the 7th day. So no opportunity to take advantage of the warranty (I pay extra for) providing a rental. Nothing but an error in programming. Quick fix.
