Simply put, if this were a street car, I'd be looking at Michelin Pilot Sports A/S3's or Conti ExtremeContact DSW06+, but since I'm not familiar with AT tires, which are the best of the best, and why?

Ya never skimp on Tires, Brakes and Mattresses, though the other 2 aren't a concern right now. More thinking ahead for when I need them instead of now, thanks in advance

Already got a bunch of really good answers... and everyone has already hit on the better tires on the market (Wildpeaks, Grabbers A/Tx, etc.) but just to add my 2 cents.

BFG KO2 are my all-around favorite tire of all time. Best combination of on-road performance, off-road performance, snow performance, affordability, and availability. As @Jakob1972 said, they are kind of the iPhone of tires... but they have been the benchmark All-Terrain tire for a long time and there is a good reason for it. One of the big reason why I got the standard Badlands was because it comes with KO2s.

Nittos are probably the most popular tire in the off-road community these days. They are a bit of a "flavor of the month" and tend to be on the pricey side, BUT... I cannot deny they are solid tires and if you can find them for a decent price I would absolutely consider them.

Some other relative newcomers that I'm keeping an eye on:

  • Mickey Thompson Baja Boss A/T
    • Their Mud-Terrain tire is one of the better M/T tires on the market, but their All-Terrain is relatively new.
  • Milestar Patagonia A/T Pro
    • This tire lunched earlier this year, but is practically impossible to find--I assume supply chain woes. Their M/T tires are one of the best known tires on the market.

His recommendation was to air down. But on flat surface? What do you guys think?
So I'm interested in your experience with that gravel road, Jakob.
PS And I do have a character named Jacob!
What air pressure where you running? I hear sometimes the Broncos come with fairly high pressure to help with MPGs I think you could air down to the mid 20 or low 30s and been fine.
My road is only 3/4 of a mile and is mostly un-maintained and fairly rutted/washed in places, lots of hills. The secret to our road is 5 mph, since it’s a short road it’s not too bad. My son makes it back everyday in his 2022 Camaro with very low profile performance tires and he hasn’t had a problem yet. Most of our vehicles have road tires not and all work well on it. But cheap tires I would eat up and I think our road was the cause but not sure.
And just a suggestion Jakob in stead of Jacob. Lol.

I was probably at factory 39-40psi. These Great Basin landscapes hold (seriously) a spiritual appeal to me, so I'll get back next year with a good compressor-decompressor setup and air down to maybe 20. Maybe get a cheap 2nd spare and throw it on the roofrack. See how much rubber is my OEM Goodyears, maybe mount K02s. More recommendation for that than just about anything else on both boards. I do love cruising at 30mph+ on those roads.
It seems your driveway vs. west Utah desert roads is sort of apples & apple crumbcake comparison.
